First of all, I want to thank so many of you for not only READING the LYL ‘Love Notes,’ but letting me know how much you enjoyed it! Now the pressure is on….let’s see how I do this second week!
Given that we JUST celebrated Thanksgiving, I thought the topic of ‘thanks’ might be appropriate, since many people don’t take time to BE GRATEFUL for and give THANKS to their body!! It’s one of those ‘relationships’ that we have a tendency to take for granted, yet our bodies are such magnificent friends, companions, servants! You know how pets show unconditional love?
What about your body? I know this may seem somewhat odd, especially if you have found yourself struggling with your weight and possibly your health….
But your body does everything in its power to SURVIVE! And in the weeks to come, I’ll be offering you ideas of how your body may actually be interpreting your communications inaccurately!
How have YOU been treating your body lately? Have you been looking in the mirror and putting it down, or do you look at it with a sense of love and appreciation?
I am both shocked and saddened with the number of people I meet who literally cannot stand their body! Even my pilates teacher, who has this magnificent, healthy and fit body, literally showed me the part of her thighs she could not stand!
Have you ever thought of where this comes from? When did YOU begin to look at your body as the enemy as opposed to your faithful caretaker? And when you take a moment to step back and see where this came from…..who are you comparing yourself to? WHO or HOW did you determine what your body should or should not look like? How would YOU feel if someone looked at YOU with hate and disgust? (I’ll be giving you an exercise and talking about this more during my December 4th teleseminar!).
So, ONE of the components of Loving Yourself Lean is to begin treating your body with unconditional love, kindness and respect! For some of you, this may seem like a foreign concept…but you need to begin somewhere! As you wake up in the morning, begin by thanking your body. At the end of your day, give thanks for all that occurred in your day, and be sure to include your body in the mix! Your body is LONGING for your love!! And, you will be amazed at the difference you will begin to experience!!!
Ok…week 2 complete!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
How might you treat a newborn baby? How would you look at that child? How would your heart FEEL? What if you began treating your body in a similar way? Like a newborn baby, your body is totally dependent on YOU! It relies on you to be fed, washed, ‘held.’ I think you get my point! All it really wants is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! Would you be willing to give it a try?
